Sport is like a paintbrush. It sounds crazy I won’t lie but hear me out. For professional athletes, playing their respective sport is like the artist using their paintbrush. They’re both creating but through 2 different outlets. Athletes entertain, inspire and create memorable moments for people to experience. For example, the earliest memory I have of football is CR7’s long-range free kick against Arsenal in the champions league Semi final, 2008. The whole house was jumping when that free kick went in. I swear to you, at that moment, I became a United fan just because of the sheer emotion that goal gave me. But this is what I mean. The emotion, reaction, and feeling that sports gives me, whether it be a 100m final or champions league final, explains why I compare it to a paintbrush in that Athletes are painting their own picture for everyone else to experience and draw emotion from.
Now, I’ve clocked I’m a sports enthusiast I won’t lie. I just love it. I love the competitive nature, the rivalries and just talking about it with people. In this phase of my life, I understand that our paintbrushes are linked to our passion and this explains how The Rich Take came about. It’s mad because in 2020, I was supposed to launch a Podcast with 2 of my friends but it never came to fruition. In hindsight, I probably wasn’t even ready. But right now, I feel it’s the right time to have my creative outlet. I’ve got a mad passion for sports and so my paintbrush/creative outlet isn’t necessarily playing sports (Bad knee injury) but instead giving insight, analysis, predictions etc…literally just giving my take on it. Don’t get it twisted though, this blog may have posts on other topics like music and culture as they intertwine nicely with sports (look at the about page for more info on that).
With that being said, I wanted to use my first post as an insight into what this is and what to expect. Be sure to share, subscribe, like and comment any thoughts, ideas and suggestions you may want me to talk about.
